North High GEAR UP students save lives

Two members of MassEdCO's GEAR UP program at North High School in Worcester were among four ROTC students who were recently honored at Worcester City Hall and given a key to the city after they rushed into a burning triple-decker and warned residents that it was on fire.

On November 21, the four students were driving past a residence at 11:30 p.m. when they noticed the building was on fire. The four stopped, called 911 and rushed into the building, banging on and kicking down doors, rousing the residents on each floor and leading them to safety.
