MassEdCO operates Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs) in Boston, Chicopee, Lynn, New Bedford, Pittsfield and Worcester. Among the many success stories is Kevin, who was homeless when he came to the Worcester EOC looking for short-term training so he could secure a living-wage job. With the help of an EOC advisor, he applied, was accepted and received financial aid to attend New England Tractor Trailer School. He earned a commercial driver’s license and landed a job. Now has an apartment, a steady job and is happy to be planning the next stages of his career. Recently, he came back to the office and wrote on our comments banner: “Studied for CDL, achieved that. I am now beginning a new journey to join the elevator union. Thank you for taking me off the streets!”
