ETS senior is a Channel 5 A+ student

Anthony, who has lived in a homeless shelter with his mom and two siblings, has a 3.4 GPA and was accepted at six colleges, earning him an “A+” from Boston’s WCVB Channel 5 ABC-TV station.  He was featured on the 5-6:30 p.m. news broadcast on Wednesday, March 25.

Living in five different shelters in Worcester and Chicopee and attending three different schools since 9th grade, you might think he would have a hard time keeping up.  But his Educational Talent Search (ETS) advisor, Elizabethe Plante, at Worcester's South High School (where he has been for a year) says he’s more than on track, has a great personality and is well-liked by students and staff alike.

In fact, Anthony scored very well on his SATs and has been accepted to Worcester State University, Mass. College of Liberal Arts with a $3,000 presidential scholarship, and Norwich University with a $19,000 merit scholarship.  He plans to major in computer science at MCLA.

Breaking news:  Channel 5 recently named Anthony one of seven winners of a $1,000 Kirby Perkins scholarship.  Congrats, Anthony!  Watch the news story.
