GEAR UP refunded for seven years

MassEdCO received wonderful news on September 28 - its GEAR UP program has been refunded for the next seven-year grant cycle!

The U.S. Department of Education announced Fiscal Year 2018 grants that included $4.256 million per year for seven years to the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (MDHE) for GEAR UP Massachusetts. MassEdCO partners with MDHE to provide GEAR UP services in Worcester, New Bedford, Springfield and Holyoke. In addition to those cities, GEAR UP Massachusetts operates in Boston, Lawrence and Lowell.

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a national initiative that encourages young people to have high expectations, stay in school, study hard and take the right courses to go to college.

MassEdCO congratulates and recognizes the GEAR UP Massachusetts team for their work detailing the need for and benefits of this program in Massachusetts which resulted in continued funding to assist thousands of deserving young people in their pursuit of higher education.
