GEAR UP Summer Science Camp 2015

Twenty rising seventh-graders at Worcester East Middle School, who are members of GEAR UP, participated in a week-long Summer Science Camp where they explored technology and sustainability.  Activities included students riding on a lobster boat to study ocean life, the effects of pollution, and steps being taken to keep our oceans clean.  They spent a day at the Sustainability Hub in Worcester participating in interactive workshops about energy efficiency and emerging technologies.  Students toured the MIT Robotics museum and practiced computer robotics and also learned about robots used in the medical field and in space.  On a tour of Harvard University, students were shown how setting educational goals and working hard at school can produce great rewards for their education.
