2017 Financial Literacy Summit

On  May 8, MassEdCO  hosted  its annual spring forum at Assumption College in Worcester. Over 150 people attended the Massachusetts Financial Literacy Summit on "The Importance of Empowering Families and Students with Financial Literacy Skills."

The event opened with video remarks from US Sen. Elizabeth Warren, giving the attendees a call to action on this important topic. State Sen. Michael Moore, as co-chair of the Commonwealth's Joint Committee on Higher Education, then shared information on what the state is doing to address financial literacy issues. The keynote address was offered by John Pelletier, founding director of the nationally acclaimed Center for Financial Literacy at Champlain College in Vermont.

A panel discussion followed, with representatives discussing a wide array of initiatives that are being implemented in the Commonwealth by some of the major organizations across the state.

Special thanks to the Summit's sponsors:  Mass. Educational Financing Authority (MEFA), American Student Assistance (ASA), and Seven Hills Foundation
