100 Males to College

In February 2017, the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education awarded Performance Incentive Fund grants that would launch 100 Males to College programs in Brockton and Worcester.  MassEdCO is pleased to collaborate with the Worcester partners: Worcester State University, Worcester Public Schools, and Quinsigamond Community College.

The program, which will begin in April, will bring mentoring, dual enrollment, remediation, wrap-around services, and more to 100 male junior and senior students from area high schools. This program will include activities designed to encourage college attendance and completion of students from the Worcester Public Schools, with a specific focus on underrepresented, under-served, low-income, and first-generation-to-college students.

Dubbed "The Brotherhood for College Success," the program hopes to jumpstart the college process through mentoring, college access workshops, math support and free early college courses, summer field trips and transportation.

Programs are already up and running in Springfield and Framingham.
