MassEdCO program students "Go Higher"

Four hundred high school seniors from MassEdCo college access programs throughout Worcester attended a Go Higher event at North High School on October 14.  Coordinated by the GEAR UP program, the event was made possible by the Go Higher campaign through the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education.

Go Higher promotes college readiness and raises awareness of the growing number of outstanding programs and opportunities available to students at Massachusetts community colleges, state universities, and University of Massachusetts campuses.

Students currently attending UMass Amherst, UMass Medical School, Framingham State University, Quinsigamond Community College, and Worcester State University were featured speakers, telling the high school students about their majors and the various reasons they decided to pursue a public education.  An interactive college fair with 14 local MA public colleges followed the presentation, giving students a chance to meet admissions representatives and ask questions.  Some of the tables offered hands-on activities that explored various STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers.
