Hundreds of North High School (Worcester) GEAR UP students and their family members attended the 2014 NHS College and Career Fair held in September. Fifty representatives from two- and four-year colleges and universities, career training programs, military branches and local unions staffed booths. The Worcester Adult Learning Center and MassEdCO’s Educational Opportunity Center were also on hand to talk with adults interested in going back to school. “Our students are interested in a broad range of post-high-school education options,” said Addison Barwise, the GEAR UP educational advisor who coordinated the event, “so we wanted to have something that spoke to every NHS student. We also wanted information for the entire family because educational opportunities exist for everyone – there are many paths to higher education.”
