- Are you a pre-school teacher or child care provider in need of certification to meet state requirements?
- Or would like to further your education in order to advance in this field?
If so, MassEdCO can help. As a partner in the Region 2 Educator and Provider Support (EPS) project – funded by a Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care grant to the Center for Childcare Careers (a program of Family Services of Central Massachusetts) – MassEdCO provides career and education guidance for early educators in the field who are seeking to further their education.
MassEdCO’s early education career advisor/case manager provides guidance and resources to individuals in the Central MA region who want professional credentialing for either job advancement or position retention.
The career advisor/case manager helps develop, maintain and review annual individual professional development plans (IPDP). Assistance is provided in choosing appropriate educational paths and programs based upon the educator’s individual professional development needs and goals and helps remove barriers to achieving success.
These services are an extension of the MassEdCO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC). The career advisor/case manager works closely with EOC education advisors to provide early educators with a detailed educational and career plan. EOC education advisors assist with completion of admissions and financial aid applications in meeting program deadlines.
For those who discover in the process that they have previously defaulted on past student loans comes the realization that these defaulted loans will act as a barrier to their ability to move forward. EOC advisors work with the career advisor/case manager to provide direction for these individuals with the rehabilitation of these federally defaulted student loans so that they move on in their career goals and educational paths.
Since 2009, MassEdCO has helped hundreds of early educators complete credentialing, including several who earned associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. Some of the partner institutions where they have studied are Anna Maria College, Bay Path College, Becker College, Dean College, Mass Bay Community College, Mount Wachusett Community College, Quinsigamond Community College and Worcester State University.
